NAGAON, April 30: Dr Sajjan Singh Yadav, Special Secretary, Department of Expenditure, Union Ministry of Finance, visited Nagaon district on Wednesday afternoon to review the progress of several centrally sponsored schemes.
During his visit, the Special Secretary inspected various ongoing development projects being implemented under the ‘Special Assistance to States for Capital Expenditure’ scheme and took stock of the construction work.
Dr Yadav first visited the Nagaon Police Reserve in the heart of Nagaon town, where he reviewed the construction of a four-storey building with 16 residential units being built to enhance housing facilities for police personnel.
Following this, the Special Secretary visited the State Women and Children’s Home campus in Shivanagar to inspect ‘Sakhi Niwas’, a hostel being constructed for working women under ‘Mission Shakti’. He assessed the progress of the project on site.
During the inspection, Dr Yadav held detailed discussions with senior district administration officials and engineers. While expressing satisfaction with the quality and progress of the construction work, he directed that all scheme-related works be completed within the stipulated timeframe. Emphasising effective implementation of the schemes, he stated that proper utilisation of government funds is essential for achieving real social development.
He was accompanied by Gauri Shankar Sarma, Director, Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Assam; Devashish Sarma, District Commissioner, Nagaon; Partha Pratim Das, Senior Superintendent of Police; Kamal Jit Sarma, Additional District Commissioner and Bholanath Pegu, District Social Welfare Officer.
Several other officials and staff from the police administration and the District Social Welfare Office were also present during the visit.
