NAGAON, May 2: In a major success, Nagaon Police seized a large quantity of drugs along with cash exceeding Rs 2 lakh during an operation on Friday night.
Acting on specific intelligence, a team from Nagaon Police Station conducted the operation near the Chalchali area on the Nagaon-Dhing PWD Road, close to Nagaon town.

Police intercepted a four-wheeler that was allegedly transporting drugs from Dhing to Nagaon town. During the raid, police arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered a large quantity of drugs from his possession.
The arrested individual has been identified as Haybur Islam. Police also recovered Rs 2, 16,000 in cash from him.
The vehicle used for smuggling, a Hyundai i20 bearing registration number AS 02 Q 6141 has been seized.
According to police, Islam has been involved in drug trafficking in Nagaon town and adjoining areas for a long time.
