DTF reviews Pulse Polio preparedness in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, June 19: The District Task Force (DTF) for Pulse Polio Immunization on Friday reviewed the final micro-plan and preparedness measures for the upcoming Pulse Polio Immunization–National Immunization Day (NID) campaign during its second meeting held at the Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office in Kokrajhar.

The meeting was chaired by Kokrajhar District Commissioner Pankaj Chakravarty and attended by officials from the Health and Family Welfare Department and representatives of various concerned departments and agencies.

The meeting assessed the strategies and arrangements for the Pulse Polio campaign scheduled to be conducted on June 28, 2026, aimed at administering polio vaccine drops to all children below five years of age.

According to the district micro-plan, the campaign will cover areas under Balajan BPHC, Dotma BPHC, Kachugaon BPHC, Gossaigaon BPHC, Gossaigaon Urban and Kokrajhar Urban.

The district’s projected population has been estimated at 10,17,183, with approximately 1,21,269 children in the 0–5 years age group and around 1,91,921 households identified for coverage.

Officials informed the meeting that 331 vaccinators, including Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) and Multi-Purpose Health Workers (MPHWs), will be deployed for the campaign.

More than 2,560 personnel will be engaged in different capacities to ensure smooth implementation.

A total of 667 vaccination booths have been established across the district.

Besides booth-based vaccination, transit teams and house-to-house visits have been planned to ensure that no eligible child is left out of the immunisation drive.

Addressing the meeting, District Commissioner Chakravarty stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among departments, meticulous planning and active community participation for the successful implementation of the campaign.

He urged all stakeholders to work together to ensure complete coverage of eligible children.

The District Commissioner also highlighted the need for effective implementation of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programme in the district and emphasised sustained public awareness and community sensitisation efforts to improve vaccine acceptance and coverage.

The meeting was attended by the Additional District Commissioner (Health), Joint Director of Health Services, Additional Chief Medical and Health Officer (Family Welfare), District Immunization Officer, heads of various departments and representatives of line departments.
