TEZPUR, Aug 29: On the occasion of National Sports Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of hockey legend, Major Dhyan Chand, Tezpur University organised the Fit India Freedom Run 2022. The inaugural ceremony of the event was held on Monday at 6:30 am on the premises of the Community Hall of Tezpur University. The vice-chancellor of Tezpur University, Prof V. K. Jain paid floral tribute to the hockey legend during the inaugural ceremony.
Prof Papori Boruah, dean, School of Management Sciences and dean, Student’s Welfare (i/c) delivered the welcome address. The inaugural address was delivered by vice chancellor Prof V. K. Jain. Prof Jain spoke about the importance of fitness and explained how a healthy body keeps diseases at bay. He also praised Tezpur University campus for its state-of-the-art infrastructure and sports facilities which the students and other campus dwellers can utilise to the fullest.
Prof Jain flagged off the Fit India Freedom Run 2022 where students, faculty, non-teaching staff, children and other campus dwellers participated enthusiastically.
The event ended with the prize distribution ceremony where the winners were awarded in six categories namely, children (male/female), students (male/female), faculty/staff/other campus dwellers (male/female).
