GUWAHATI, Sept 7: Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday felicitated meritorious students who passed the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) 2022 with a one-time amount of Rs 16,000 each under the Anundoram Borooah Award at Sankardev Kalakshetra Auditorium.
The award is an ambitious scheme of the State Government to inspire students to strive for academic excellence, the chief minister said at the function organised here to felicitate the students.
”Happy to have felicitated meritorious students who scored 75 per cent and above in HSLC examinations 2022, with the award,” Sarma tweeted.
The State Government has awarded 22,601 students with an amount of Rs 16,000 each from across the State.
The total amount disbursed under the scheme is Rs 36 crore.
Education minister Ranoj Pegu, Education advisor to the State Government Nani Gopal Mahanta and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, 345 students from Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong, who secured 75 percent and above marks in HSLC examination, 2022, were awarded Anundoram Borooah Award.
The award was given in a ceremonial certificate distribution here at Sarsing Teron (Langkung Habe) Memorial Town Hall on Wednesday.
Distributing the awards to the students, the chief executive member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang said that teachers cannot be blamed for poor performance of schools. “Good result of a school is a collective responsibility of students, teachers and parents,” he said.
He said that the schools with zero performance in matric will not be shut down in Karbi Anglong. “The matter has already been discussed with the State Government. A meeting will be called with the school authorities with zero performance to find out ways to make it better,” he said.
The function was attended by MP Horensing Bey; MLAs Bidyasing Engleng and Darsing Ronghang and EMs, MAC and DC, Karbi Anglong, IAS, Dibakar Nath.
