HT BureauGUWAHATI, Sept 8: Gauhati Commerce College will commemorate its 60th Foundation Day (Diamond Jubilee Closing Ceremony) on September 10, 2022.
Following the flag hoisting on the said day, a statue of the founder principal of the college Lt. Dr Bhagawan Chandra Lahkar will be unveiled in the presence of his wife, Dipali Lahkar at 10.00.am. The statue is donated by one of the alumni of GCC, also the president of the GCC Alumni Association.
After the unveiling of the statue, Diganta Biswa Sarma, an alumnus of GCC will give a speech on ‘Avatar Krishna in the light of the Geeta in the vision of Sri Aurobindo’ at 12.00.pm.

The chief guests of the session will be the director general of police (DGP Assam Police), Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta and the principal of Gauhati Medical College Dr Achyut Ch. Baishya. The eminent dignitaries will be felicitated by the college due to the significant role played by them in the management of Covid -19 pandemic. The retired faculties of the institution will also be felicitated in the programme.
GCC Alumni Association will organise its 4th Alumni Meet on September 11, 2022 at 10.00 am at the GCC premises. At 10:00 am, the flag will be hoisted. Following this, the dignitaries shall gather in Dr BC Lahkar auditorium, wherein the souvenir of the Alumni Association ‘ALCOM- Ek Aatmik Jatra’ will be released in the presence of distinguished personalities of the state. A speech will be delivered by Dr. Mamta Mishra, Vivekananda Health Global (specialist in Ayurvedic and Naturopathic). As the informal session draws on, an interactive session of the alumni will be held.
