Dalgaon, Sept 10: Minister of Forest and Environment Chandra Mohan Patowary laid foundation stone of the most awaited Model Women College here at Kharupetia under Mangaldai constituency on Saturday which will cost Rs. 23 crore.
While addressing the audience, Patowary said, “The college is aimed to increase the women literacy rate in the region as well as empower the women.”

Quoting the Darrang-Udalguri communal riot, Patowary said no genocide took place during the tenure of PM Modi in the nation and State as well. Patowary informed that MP Dilip Saikia initiated to allocate 4-lane bypass from Baihata to Tezpur via Mangaldai. On the other hand, Revenue minister Jogen Mohan urged people to be united regardless of caste and religion. It’s the strength of our State.
Mangaldai LS MP Dilip Saikia stated that the Government is empowering the women in the education sector. He detailed the welfare scheme for girls. He thanked the leadership of CM Himanta and PM Modi while MLA Basanta Das expressed gratitude towards CM for allocating the women college.
However, Dalgaon MLA expressed dissatisfaction over having no photographs of CM Himanta in the banner. He said- though this college is at Mangaldai Constituency, it would cover Mangaldai, Dalgaon and Kalagaon as well. Girls from minority community will get the benefit mostly. Sipajhar MLA Paramananda Rajbongshi, former MLA of Mangaldai Gurujyoti Das, DC Pranab Kumar Sarma and others were present in the event.
