Tezpur, Sept 10: Sadou Asom Lekhika Samaroh Samiti (SALSS), a leading literary organisaton of the State announces its different awards on Saturday to be conferred in its forthcoming State conference. Announcing the much awaited awards to 12 numbers of prominent writers, journalists and artists, Dr. Charu Saharia Nath, president and Dr. Thunu Kalita, principal secretary of the organisation said here that the awards will be presented at the 39th biennial session of the Sadou Asom Lekhika Samaroh Samiti to be held in Sivasagar district in October next. The ‘Kabya Bharati Nalinibala Devi Award’ will be presented to Dr. Neelima Thakuria Haque, a prominent poet and artist. The ‘Padmashri Chandraprabha Saikiani Award’ will be presented to prominent educationist, writer and social worker Swarna Barua Gogoi. Dr. Bibha Bora, a prominent educationist and social worker would be awarded with the ‘Samajaratna Aarati Saikia Memorial Samaj Sahitya Award’. Noted novelist Dr. Nirupama Mahanta and prominent novelist and short story writer Juri Bora Borgohain is selected for the ‘Lekhika Samaroh Sahitya Bota-2019’ and ‘Lekhika Samaroh Sahitya Bota -2020’ respectively. Prominent children litterateur Abha Bora would be honoured with the ‘Beena Sarma Memorial Children’s Literature Award’. The Dr. Indira Dutta Translation Literary Award would be presented to prominent translator Anupama Devi. Prominent writer Darpana Bora Neog would be awarded with the ‘Hemchandra Sarma Memorial Literary Award’.
The ‘Sampriti (Tuktuk) Saikia Memorial Children’s Literature Award’, The ‘Jinu Konwar Memorial Cultural Achievement Award’, The ‘Swarna Hazarika Women Journalist Award’, the ‘Anubha Barua Memorial Lekhika Garima Award’ would be presented to prominent children litterateur Swarna Hazarika, renowned singer Dr. Mausumi Saharia distinguished journalist Chayamani Bhuyan and noted social worker and writer Chandra Barman respectively.
It is worth mentioning that being came into existence on 2nd November, 1974 Sadou Asom Lekhika Samaroh Samiti has been working with the aim to inspire women’s education, thought and social consciousness and improvement of the literary scenario. Besides awarding several prestigious awards at its every biennial sessions in the past to encourage writers and recognise their work the organisation has been providing a strong platform to women Assamese writers of different ages to create and publish their works living in and around the State and beyond for the last 47 years .
