TURA, Sept 18: The West Garo Hills district administration in collaboration with the District Planning Office, organised a one-day workshop on the project, School Transformation by Augmenting Resources (STAR), at District Auditorium, Tura, where a large number of school teachers of the district participated.
The deputy commissioner, Swapnil Tembe, deliberated on ‘Project STAR’ with a mission to ensure quality education in Government Schools by using various tools like teacher training, career counseling, personality development, survey and assessment and adopting a school.
The District School Education officer (DSEO), RTK Sangma, highlighted the present status of education in the Garo Hills and informed that the Education department had identified land at Sadolpara village under Dadenggre Block for construction of a new Jawahar Navodaya Vidiyalaya.
Mark Laitflang Stone, the managing director of The Avenue, spoke at length on the ‘Role of Motivation in Learning-the State of Youth’ while the headmaster of Sherwood School, Tyron D Brass, enlightened the teachers dwelling on the topic, ‘Leadership Role of a Teacher’.
During the day, the District Planning officer, WRG Momin, delivered the welcome address while the Research officer, BR Marak proposed the vote of thanks.
