JORHAT, Sept 18: Jahnabi Kalita, inspector of Drugs Jorhat, was arrested red-handed at her office here on Saturday by a team of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption wing of Assam Police while reportedly accepting money she had demanded for issuing a licence to the complainant for opening a pharmacy.

Meanwhile, police from Pulibor Police Station in Jorhat west, arrested Bhaskar Borah of Jengraimukh, Majuli, and Krishna Ghosh of Alimur Bamungaon, Majuli in connection with a burglary case that happened in the house of Bakul Borah of Kusumjugonia, Dagaon, under Pulibor Police Station, a few days ago.
A police source stated that a necklace, four gold chains, 11 gold rings, 15 pairs of earrings, 11 bangles, and the KTM motorbike used in committing the crime have been recovered from the duo. Majuli police assisted in nabbing the accused persons, the source said, adding that Ghosh reportedly bought the stolen items from Borah.
