DEMOW, Sept 25: Education department of Moran College organised an alumni meet in the auditorium of Kareng Bhawan situated in Moran on Saturday and Sunday.
As per the schedule, on Saturday, the programme started with the hoisting of flag. The flag was hoisted jointly by Dr. Mitali Konwar, principal of Moran College and Kalpana Borah, retired professor of Education department of Moran College. The ceremonial lamp was lit by Dr. Rajendra Prasad Borthakur, vice-principal of Moran College. The smriti tarpan was offered jointly by Deben Sonowal, chief secretary and Gyananda Chutia, joint secretary of the organising committee of the meet.
An alumni meeting was organised on the occasion, where Alpana Gogoi Bhuyan, HOD of Education department of Moran College and assistant professors – Dr. Purabi Nath Chaliha, Jyotshna Kaman, and Rini Sonowal, gave their opening remarks. A book ‘Samanay Shubhak’ was released by Basa Borah, journalist. A discussion programme was organised among the alumni and students. Cultural programme was organised on Saturday.
On Sunday, the programme started with the plantation of saplings. A discussion was held on the topic – ‘An Alumni Meet: Importance and its relevance in the present time’. The discussion session was organised under the presidentship of Alpana Gogoi Bhuyan, HOD of the Education department of Moran College. During the discussion, Dr. Pranjal Buragohain, assistant professor of Education department was present as resource person.
An open session was also organised which was presided over by Ashimabha Dutta, president of the Governing Body of Moran College. A cultural programme was held on Sunday evening where popular singers were invited to perform.
