President Murmu Hands Swachh City Award-2022 To Representatives From Diphu Municipal Board

Diphu Municipal Board adds another feather on its hat

DIPHU, Oct 6: The Diphu Municipal Board (DMB) has been awarded the Swachh City Award-2022, for achieving as the ‘fast moving city in Northeast Zone of population category between 50, 000 to 1 lakh’ by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, at Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi.

The award was handed over by President of India, Draupadi Murmu in the presence of Union minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri and minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Kaushal Kishore.

It was received by the chairman, DMB, Rah Kro; ward commissioner, Sagar Chetri; executive engineer of DMB, Nippu Charan Dutta and assistant executive engineer, Pradip Rongpi.

The award included a certificate, a memento of Mahatma Gandhi and a cash award of Rs 5 lakh to be received from the Housing and Urban Department, Govt of Assam. The DMB received the same award two times earlier. The first one was in 2019 and the previous one was in 2021. This will be the third time the DMB has received the award.

While receiving the award, the chairman, DMB, Kro said, “The award is given for the fastest moving city in the Northeast. It also shows the cleanliness of the city.”

Kro also said that several schemes for the development of Diphu town are being taken up. CCTV cameras will be installed to check the dumping of garbage in the Diphu River. Kro urged the citizens of Diphu to maintain civic sense by keeping the town clean.
