Village Knowledge Centre Inaugurated At KVK, Sonitpur

TEZPUR, April 8: Inauguration of Virtual Village Knowledge Center and demonstration of plant clinic as well as other ICT based tools under upscaling activities of NIBIO-Climate Resilience project was conducted at KVK, Sonitpur on Thursday. The village center was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by Dr Arifa Momtaz Begum, in-charge head, KVK, Sonitpur and Dr R Rajkumar, principal scientist, MSSRF, Chennai. Dr Milon Jyoti Konwar, junior scientist, RARS Titabar discussed the objectives of village knowledge centre and different works going under this center. Dr R Rajkumar spoke on different ICT tools like voice call, audio and video conference, video based learning, helpline service, phone in programme and further one demonstration was conducted with farmers on phone in programme. He also explained that MSSRF has been using the different ICT tools for the past 20 years to address farming issues. Later Dr Parinda Baruwa, Junior Scientist, RARS, Titabar demonstrated the plant clinic and explained about the importance and working procedure of the plant clinic. The programme was attended by 20 farmers and 34 agriculture students. Dr Roji Chutia, SMS, Agronomy, Dr Ranjit Bordoloi, SMS, Fishery Science, Pompi Dutta, development coordinator, MSSRF and Lipika Talukdar, project officer, IWMI also actively participated in the programme and assisted in guiding the participants in using the village knowledge center. The participants were very satisfied with such a programme and provided their valuable feedback at the end.
