DIPHU, Oct 14: The Karbi Students Association (KSA-Samson Teron Faction) has expressed concern over the notification issued by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) on September 29, 2022, stating that the Karbi is no longer an elective subject for 2023 HSLC examination.

The notification by SEBA said that it had instructed all school heads for changing of Karbi (Elective) to any other elective subject (as per the choice of the students) on or before October 30, 2022.
The student body in a statement said, “We approve the decision to introduce the Karbi language subject as MIL from the 2023 HSLC examination by SEBA. However, the problem is that there are some students who opted for Karbi subject as an elective during their Class-IX registration, basically, in session 2019-20 and 2020-21, and had to face difficulties now in choosing another elective in lieu of Karbi (Elective) in this eleventh hour.”
The KSA appealed to SEBA to review the matter and give the students a chance to write Karbi Elective in the upcoming 2023 HSLC examination in the greater interest of students.
