Sudhakantha Dr Bhupen Hazarika remembered on his 11th death anniversary in Sonitpur district

Tezpur, Nov 5: Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika was remembered on Saturday throughout  the district of Sonitpur by different organisations with great enthusiasm along with other parts of the country on the 11th death anniversary of the legend.

Paying heart full tribute to the Bard of Brahmaputra, renowned social worker and close associate of the great artist Dr Lakshmi Goswami remembered her attachment with Dr Bhupen Hazarika that drawn the attention of the people to the multi-faceted qualities and geniusness of the great artist as she had seen during the years in the programme organised in Bhupen Hazarika Kalabhumi, Tezpur by the Sonitpur district administration in association with Madhabdev Kala Niketan, Milanpur.

Prithiraj Rabha, MLA, Tezpur also remembered his attachment and experience with the great music maestro during his childhood and recalled the relation between his father Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha and Dr. Bhupen Hazarika.

Deba Kumar Mishra, deputy commissioner, Sonitpur said remembering Dr. Hazarika that the popularity of the great artist  is unbounded and  the administration will try to give a new shape of the Bhupen Hazarika Kalabhumi through which life and philosophy of the great artist could be exhibited in more commendable tone.

During the programme from the chair of the distinguished guest Purneswar Nath, ex-president of Tezpur Sahitya Sabha said in his speech that in the creations of Dr. Hazarika overall welfare of people and society, social philosophy and socialist thought are reflected always.

At the very outset Sonitpur deputy commissioner and Dr Lakshmi Goswami inaugurated the programme entitled ‘Aami Ekekhon Nawore Jatri (We are on the same boat brother)’ by lighting lantern and paying floral tribute in front of the statue of Dr Bhupen Hazarika which was hosted by Pankaj Barua, publicity convenor, Asam Sahitya Sabha. Ex-president of Baan Theatre, Mahendra Nath Keot, MLA, Tezpur Prithiraj Rabha, additional deputy commissioner of Sonitpur Pankaj Nagbanshi, vice president of Asomiya Club, prominent sportsman Pankaj Bora, Madhabdev Kala Niketan president Mayur Kanchan Bora, from the family of Jangam Alok Nath, Santanu Mahanta, Tezpur District Sports Association president Jiten Borthakur, president of Chatak Anil Kumar Bhattacharya, Tezpur Sahitya Sabha president Dr Bhupen Saikia, former president Dr Suresh Kumar Arya, Environment Society treasurer Suresh Sirohia, Asam Natya Sanmilan Tezpur Branch secretary Jintu Barthakur and others also paid rich tribute to the beloved artist.
