KHERONI, Nov 18: A body of a man, probably in his 50s was found in a forest in West Karbi Anglong at Navaibil under Mailoo police outpost, under Kheroni police station on Friday.
A man foraging for firewood in the jungle came upon the body at Navaibil. He ran back to the village and informed other villagers who in turn informed the police. The police reached the spot immediately and the villagers identified the body as that of Mahesh Chauhan, a resident of the village. The police took possession of the body in presence of villagers and forwarded it for a post mortem report.

The deceased’s brother said he may have been killed elsewhere and thrown in the jungle as there is sign of injury to his head. His family members said Mahesh went to Lamsakhang to do grocery shopping on Thursday afternoon at around 12 pm but failed to return home.
The culprit or culprits are unknown and the police have started their investigation by asking villagers about anything related to the suspected murder.
