NAGAON, Nov 28: Dhing College launched Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, initiated by ministry of Human Resources Development, government of India at five adopted villages – Lahkar Ghat, Salaguri Gaon, Bilatia, Niz Dhing and Auniati Satra of the district. The college has already adopted all these five villages.
The programme was initiated by Dr Mukut Moni Saikia, the programme coordinator of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and a group of NSS volunteers and created awareness amongst the villagers about Unnat Bharat Abhiyan programme.
During the drive, the volunteers also intimated that a household survey as well as a village survey will be carried out.
Besides, a meeting was also organised at each of those adopted villages where villagers, guardians as well as the gram pradhans were also present to ensure that their villages were taken as adopted villages.
The programme was initiated in April and it will continue for some months, a release added.
