DIPHU, Jan 20: Executive member (EM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Education, Richard Tokbi admitted the mistake committed by Karbi Language Development Board (KLDB) in the evaluation paper set by the board in Karbi subject for the ongoing Gunotsav in Karbi Anglong. He said a show cause notice will be served to the officials preparing the evaluation papers.

In the objective evaluation papers on pictures of animals that were distributed to students on the first day of external evaluation, they found that the question asked did not match with the picture of the animals. One of the questions for Class-II was ‘Which of the following (in the picture) is a sunflower?’ But the pictures shown as options were that of a goat and a pig.
The EM while admitting the mistake said, “I, as the EM, Education, apologise for it. It is unfortunate. I have discussed the matter with the secretary, Education, Nirola Phangchopi and joint secretary, Nirupuma Timung. The deputy secretary, KLDB, Sonasing Terang; the persons who have set the evaluation papers have not done the proofreading. For their carelessness, a show cause notice would be served.”
The EM said such mistakes should not be repeated again. The education of children cannot be played with. Gunotsav is conducted to improve the education system and achieve quality. But if such errors happen then it will jeopardise quality education.
