DIPHU, Jan 30: The All Party Hill Leaders Conference (APHLC) has slammed Horensing Bey, MP, for comparing the APHLC workers to parrots during the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council’s public interactive programme held at Majung under Sarupathar Constituency on Saturday last.

In a press conference held here on Monday, the APHLC spokesperson Angtong Ingti Kathar said, “The CEM interactive programme, held in every MAC constituency, has turned out to be a platform to attack the opposition parties.
“The interactive programmes were attended by department officials, staff, etc., and in front of everyone, the MP attacked the APHLC,” he said, adding that it was a government programme and not a political meeting, “so the MP should have refrained from such a speech”.
CEM Tuliram Ronghang should clarify the motive behind organising the public interaction programme, Kathar demanded.
Terming such interaction programmes as wastage of government money, Kathar alleged that the ruling party was using such meetings for political purposes in view of Lok Sabha elections due in 2024.
It may be mentioned here that in the interactive meeting, the MP had said that all the workers of APHLC were parrots.
“The MP himself is a parrot as he is only following the dictates of the CEM,” stated members of the APHLC.
Referring to the MP’s statement that the president of APHLC JI Kathar is playing politics in the name of religion, the APHLC spokesperson said, “If MP Horensing Bey can produce evidence that JI Kathar is playing politics in the name religion then we are ready to face it.”
“It is the BJP which is playing politics in the name of religion. The BJP hates Christian and Muslim minorities,” the APHLC spokesperson added.
