BISWANATH CHARIALI, Feb 19: On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, a cultural programme was organised at Kali Mandir located at No 1 Batiaroka by Nilkantha Jubak Sangha on Saturday night. Sahitya Akademi’s Yuva Puraskar awardee Anjan Baskota graced the occasion as a chief guest and inaugurated the cultural programme.
Inaugurating the programme, Baskota expressed his deep concern over the aggression of western culture on Indian culture and our way of life. He made a humble appeal to the public to stand united to conserve our cultural heritage. Purna Kumar Sarma, Sahitya Akademi’s Translation award winning writer graced the occasion as guest of honour. Churamoni Sarkar, local teacher conducted the proceedings of the inaugural session. Children and invited artists performed cultural programmes afterwards.
