BISWANATH CHARIALI, March 4: State cabinet minister Ashok Singhal today visited Sonitpur district with a day-long programme and inspected ongoing developmental schemes along with higher officials and officials from civil administration.
Minister Singhal first reached Gohpur and reviewed the ongoing construction work of embankment on the bank of Solengi river. After inspecting the construction work, minister Singhal visited historic Gohpur Police Station which has been categorised as a heritage site by the state Archeology department.

After offering floral tributes at the statues of Kanaklata Barua and Mukunda Kakaty respectively, minister Singhal said that the historic Gohpur Police Station will be opened for visitors very soon.
Minister Ashok Singhal then visited the municipal boards of Gohpur, Biswanath, Sootea and Jamuguri. He held a series of discussions in the office premises of Gohpur, Biswanath, Sootea and Jamuguri municipal boards.
He reviewed the ongoing construction as well as developmental schemes of the state and the central government. He gave special focus on the schemes undergoing in Sootea and Jamuguri municipal boards respectively. He instructed the officials of both the municipal boards to carry out the widely popular schemes such as Swatcha Bharat Abhijan, Jal Jeevan Mission, Prime Minister Swanidhi Scheme beside others in collaboration with the local people. He also inspected the dumping grounds and waste management system of both the municipal boards and instructed to adopt innovative measures to handle the issues relating to ecology. Minister Singhal also took stock of the requirements and said that he would release the required funds as early as possible. He was accompanied by MLA’s of Biswanath and Gohpur Pramod Borthakur and Utpal Bora, Jay Shivani, Civil SDO, Biswanath along with other officials.
