DIPHU, March 21: The All Party Hills Leaders Conference – Youth Wing (APHLC-YW) has questioned denial of permission for its youth conference in Nilip area, despite the BJP, RSS, and other organisations being allowed to hold meetings in the district despite the imposition of Section 144 CrPC.
The APHLC-YW has rescheduled its conference to April 3 and 4.
Speaking at a press conference at the District Press Club of Karbi Anglong on Tuesday, APHLC-YW secretary Shersing Bey said that the district administration denied their request to hold the conference on March 23 and 24 due to the imposition of the prohibitory order.
Bey asked, “Why are the BJP, RSS, and other organisations allowed to hold their meetings when we are not?”
He added that the RSS is planning to hold a nine-day programme from March 22 to 31 at Arnam Langpi under Deopani MAC constituency in the district, and that one of the organisers had said that at least 1,500 people would be attending the event. The RSS is also holding a program at Diphu Club on March 22.
Bey pointed out that the district administration cannot discriminate against any party and should give equal rights to arrange meetings and programs.
He informed the party workers that the conference was not cancelled but was rescheduled to April 3 and 4.
