GUWAHATI, March 29: NASSCOM Foundation and DXC Technology have joined forces to address the skill gap and promote digital education in India’s northeastern region. The partnership aims to provide the youth with opportunities to harness and scale-up technology, thereby enhancing their employment prospects. As part of this initiative, more than 800 students in Assam will receive training in both technical and non-technical skills, enabling them to meet the demands of the modern job market.

Nidhi Bhasin, CEO, NASSCOM Foundation said, “We firmly believe that the key to achieving a digitally empowered society and a knowledge-based economy lies in two main objectives: enhancing digital literacy and addressing the glaring skilling gap that currently hinders India’s youth. NASSCOM Foundation, in partnership with DXC Technology, is taking a significant step towards providing technology access to some of the most marginalized and remote communities in India. By combining our efforts, we aspire to expand the digital ecosystem’s reach and ensure that no one is left behind.”

Lokendra Sethi, Vice President, India HR Lead, DXC Technology added, “We at DXC are committed to our social responsibility mission of strengthening the backbone of our society by providing the youth with appropriate education and skilling opportunities. Providing technical knowledge and essential life skills to communities, particularly to those who need it the most, can positively shape the country’s future in today’s digital age. By collaborating with NASSCOM Foundation we are steadily moving towards our goal, and we are proud to be a part of this journey.”

Notably, this project closely aligns with both NASSCOM Foundation and DXC Technology’s philosophy of leveraging technology for social good and for improving the quality of life of the youth from marginalized communities and society at large. In line with the Digital India vision, the goal is to foster economic growth and development in communities. The initiative is part of a larger collaboration between the two organizations, announced last year, to strengthen India’s Aspirational Districts Programme, contributing to shaping a technologically empowered society.
