DIPHU: President of Karbi Cultural Society (KCS), Chondrosing Kro said the KCS leaders have met the President of India, Droupadi Murmu during the Gaj Utsav at Kohora on Friday last and invited her to grace as the chief guest to inaugurate the golden jubilee celebration of Karbi Youth Festival (KYF) in February next year, which is organised by KCS.
In a press conference held at KCS Taralangso central committee office on Saturday Kro said, “Yesterday i.e. April 7 getting the information that President of India Droupadi Murmu is participating in the two day elephant festival held at Kaziranga, and we have gone to meet her at Kohora police guest house and conveyed to her about our inviting her to grace as the chief guest to inaugurate the 50th KYF in February, 2024. The President has accepted our invitation and given her consent to grace the occasion as an inaugurator for the 50th KYF.”
There is still time and if everything works as planned then the people of Karbi Anglong will be very much pleased to receive the President as the chief guest for the 50th KYF commemoration, Kro said.
