West Karbi Anglong Issues Safety Notice For Construction Sites

DIPHU, June 14: The district administration of West Karbi Anglong has issued a notice to various departments and agencies operating in the district regarding the implementation of preventive and protective measures. The notice emphasises the importance of barricading construction and work sites with proper signage and caution messages. It also mentions the need to erect red flags and take necessary measures to avoid any untoward incidents or mishaps.

Furthermore, the notice highlights the responsibility of all agencies, both public and private, to promptly close or plug any abandoned or open pits, holes, drains, or other openings created during construction or installation works. Failure to comply with these measures may result in actions being taken against defaulting departments or agencies under the relevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

The district administration also appeals to the public to report any unguarded or un-barricaded drain work, construction holes, manholes, or similar hazards to the District Emergency Operation Centre in West Karbi Anglong. They have provided a contact number (6001842074) for reporting such incidents along with photographs of the site and location. The purpose of this reporting is to ensure that immediate restoration measures can be taken to prevent any untoward incidents or mishaps during the monsoon season.
