Demow’s Max Indu Phukan receives research scholarship for PHD at University of Ulster

Demow, June 29: Max Indu Phukan, a resident of Demow Lakhimi Nagar and son of Mukunda Phukan and Indira Buragohain, has been awarded the prestigious Vice-Chancellor’s Research Scholarship by the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland. Max Indu Phukan, currently working as a technical officer (Sports Science) at the Institute of Sport, University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, will begin his PHD in Swimming Biomechanics in September 2023.

Max Indu Phukan’s educational journey includes passing his HSLC Examination from St Mary’s School in 2014 and his HS Final Examination from Assam Rifles Public School, Jorhat in 2016. He further pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education (B Ped) from Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education in Gwalior, India in 2020, and completed his MSc in Sport and Exercise Biomechanics from Leeds Beckett University, United Kingdom in 2022.

Notably, Max Indu Phukan holds the distinction of being the first player from Sivasagar district in swimming to participate in the national championship. When contacted by this correspondent, Max Indu Phukan shared a valuable message for the new generation. He emphasised that young individuals need not have everything figured out at an early age. Instead, he advised having a vision and taking consistent steps towards achieving goals, as life is a marathon, not a sprint.
