The initiative marks a significant step towards fostering a culture of reading, writing, and creativity among the youth of the state.

To commemorate the occasion, the Pasighat Chapter of the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society organised a poetry recital featuring performances by young writers and poets from the region.

The event showcased the literary potential of the district’s youth and highlighted the growing enthusiasm for creative expression.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that the concept of New Age Learning Centres is steadily gaining momentum across the state, drawing increasing interest from young learners and literary enthusiasts.

He expressed confidence that the success of the Pasighat centre would serve as an inspiration for similar learning hubs to be established in every district and town, thereby promoting a wider culture of knowledge-sharing and intellectual development.

Emphasising the need to nurture reading and writing habits among the younger generation, Lt Gen Parnaik said that reading enhances vocabulary and articulation, while writing refines the ability to communicate one’s thoughts effectively.

“Developing these habits is essential for building confident, articulate, and thoughtful individuals who can contribute meaningfully to society,” he remarked.

The Governor urged officials to make the NALC a true hub of intellectual and literary excellence by organising regular literary events, book readings, workshops, and creative writing sessions to nurture young thinkers and writers.

As a gesture of encouragement, the Governor presented the ‘Governor’s Pen’ to the poetry recital participants —Ayang Doley, Otul Jerang, Yang Megu, and Nana Toyang Taloh — recognising their contribution to the day’s literary programme.

Local MLA Tapi Darang, Deputy Commissioner of East Siang District Sonalika Jiwani, and Deputy Director of Public Libraries Yayum Riba were also present at the inauguration, along with members of the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society, Pasighat Chapter.

The Governor’s call to transform the New Age Learning Centre into a vibrant platform for knowledge, creativity, and community engagement resonated strongly with attendees, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the promotion of literary and intellectual pursuits in East Siang district.
