ITANAGAR, July 16: As part of the Government of India’s initiative to mark the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee as a national tribute to his enduring contributions to the country, the State Level Implementation Committee (SLIC) in Arunachal Pradesh held a meeting to chart out a detailed roadmap for the commemoration.
The meeting was convened on July 15 at Itanagar under the chairmanship of Shri Amjad Tak, IAS, Commissioner (Education) and Divisional Commissioner, Central Zone.
According to an official statement, the meeting was held in pursuance of the Ministry of Culture’s directive to organise a two-year-long celebration across states, culminating in July 2027.
The committee finalised a calendar of events that includes a series of literary activities, commemorative exhibitions, and sports events across educational institutions in the state to honour the life and legacy of Dr Mookerjee.
The committee also discussed the formation of District Level Implementation Committees (DLICs), which will operate under the guidance of the SLIC to ensure the smooth rollout of planned activities throughout the commemoration period.
The meeting was attended by designated committee members including Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs, Abu Tayeng; Secretary General Administration and District Administration, Komkar Dulom; Secretary Art and Culture, Mamata Riba; and Director Art and Culture, Ibom Tao.
The commemorative activities are expected to engage a wide range of stakeholders, particularly the student community, through educational and cultural outreach aimed at highlighting Dr Mookerjee’s role in shaping modern India.
The state government, in coordination with the central Ministry of Culture, will oversee the execution of the initiatives over the next two years.
