ITANAGAR, Aug 9: The Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress celebrated its Foundation Day by reaffirming its commitment to social justice, national unity and constructive public service through the administration of the Youth Congress Pledge.
According to an official statement, members pledged to uphold the ideals of Tyaga (sacrifice), Nyaya (justice), Shanti (peace), Dharma (righteousness), Vigyan (science), Samriddhi (prosperity) and Satya (truth).
They resolved to protect India’s cultural, linguistic, religious and regional diversity under the guiding principles of Sadbhavana (goodwill) and Sarva-Dharma-Sambhaav (equal respect for all religions).
The pledge included a commitment to fight social evils such as dowry, domestic violence, female foeticide and drug addiction.
It also emphasised health awareness, with members vowing to work towards eradicating diseases like polio and tuberculosis, and to support those affected by HIV/AIDS.
Women’s empowerment and the upliftment of deprived sections of society were highlighted as key priorities.
Members resolved to fight terrorism until it is eliminated and to regularly engage in socially constructive activities such as blood donation, tree plantation and other community welfare programmes.
The statement said the Youth Congress would strive to build a strong youth movement to carry forward the vision of India’s great leaders and contribute to nation-building.
Members also pledged to work tirelessly to make India one of the top-ranking nations in the world, ensure total employment, promote population control measures, conserve energy, and eradicate illiteracy.
Concluding the ceremony, the Youth Congress reiterated its determination to take all possible measures to achieve these goals, closing the event with a rousing “Jai Hind”.
