WAKRO, Aug 13: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Wednesday inspected the ongoing development works at Parashuram Kund and announced that the 51-foot statue of Lord Parashuram will be called the “Statue of Strength”.
According to an official statement, Mein said that with the combined efforts of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, VIPRA Foundation, and local communities, the project is on track for a grand inauguration by November or December this year.
As part of the Riverfront Development Project, several infrastructure upgrades are under way, including safe bathing facilities, structural protection works, and enhanced public amenities, to make Parashuram Kund both a revered pilgrimage site and a vibrant tourism destination.
Despite recent flood damage, expert-led redesigns are being implemented to ensure greater safety, accessibility, and improved visitor experience.
The deputy chief minister also chaired a coordination meeting with the Lohit district administration, chief engineers of various departments, heads of offices, and public leaders.

Valuable suggestions were shared for the long-term preservation of Parashuram Kund.
Mein reiterated the state government’s commitment to safeguarding its sanctity while unlocking its potential as a spiritual and cultural landmark.
Mein was accompanied by VIPRA Foundation national convenor Susil Ojha, sculptor Naresh Kumar Kumawat, State Council for IT & e-Governance chairman Nyamar Karbak, Lohit ZPC Dasula Krisikro, Lohit DC Kesang Damo, retired chief engineer Atop Lego, BJP Namsai district president Ningroo Ong Maio, chief engineers, Wakro ADC, and other dignitaries.
