District-level training programme on rural governance begins in Upper Siang

YINGKIONG, July 29: A three-day District-Level Training on Management Development Programme (MDP) for officials of the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department and functionaries from various line departments commenced on Tuesday in Upper Siang district.

The programme is being conducted by the State Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (SIRDPR) in collaboration with the District Administration.

According to an official statement, the training aims to strengthen rural governance through targeted capacity building on key areas such as leadership development, gender sensitisation, and inter-departmental coordination.

It is being attended by Heads of Departments (HODs), officers and officials from various government departments, as well as Panchayati Raj functionaries from across the district.

The programme was formally inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Talo Jerang in the presence of Zilla Parishad Chairperson Lumgeng Litin.

The event has been coordinated by Dr Nijohn Danggen, PD/DPDO, with support from the staff of the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department.

SW Bagang, Assistant Director and Core Faculty at SIRDPR, and Sujit Kundu, Consultant, SIRDPR, are serving as the primary resource persons for the training, which will continue until July 31.

The training sessions are designed to equip government personnel with the skills and knowledge necessary to enhance service delivery and promote inclusive rural development in Upper Siang district.
