PASIGHAT, Sept 19: The Department of Hindi, Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC), Pasighat, on Friday organised the closing ceremony of Hindi Saptah (Hindi Week), marking the culmination of a week-long celebration that began on September 14, Hindi Diwas.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Principal Dr Tasi Taloh, accompanied by faculty members and dignitaries.
Students of MA 3rd Semester presented the state song Arunachal Hamara as a welcome gesture, followed by the felicitation of distinguished guests.
Coordinator Dr Zebina Taki delivered the welcome address and outlined the day’s proceedings.
During the week, the Hindi Department organised essay writing, poetry writing and extempore speech competitions.
Winners were felicitated at the closing event.
In extempore speech, Tilung Borang secured the first position, while Yayok Nyitan stood second.
In essay writing, Tarh Tabang and Lomti Lego won the first and second prizes respectively.
The poetry writing contest was won by Kensum Ete, with Ilma Muskan placed second.
Invited speakers inspired the gathering with their addresses.
Dr SK Sinha, HoD of English, elaborated on the global status of Hindi and spoke on World Hindi Day, quoting verses of poet Gajanan Madhav Muktibodh.
Dr KK Mishra, HoD of Geography, recited a Hindi poem, while chief guest Dr DP Panda, IQAC Coordinator and HoD of Commerce, traced the roots of Hindi to Sanskrit and encouraged its daily use.
Vice-Principal Dr Leki Sitang highlighted how the Arunachali form of Hindi connects diverse tribes of the state.
In his concluding remarks, Principal Dr Taloh lauded the Hindi Department for successfully organising the celebration and urged students to embrace Hindi with pride.
The event also featured cultural performances by students.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr HN Pandey, HoD of Hindi.
Faculty members Dr Tokpet Pertin, Dr Munmi Perme, Dr Ing Perme and Dr Usum Jongkey, along with coordinator Dr Zebina Taki, played key roles in organising the event.
