Constructed by the Department of Indigenous Affairs, the new centre was formally inaugurated at a special function attended by several dignitaries, social workers, and representatives of various NGOs.

The event marked a major step toward promoting and preserving the state’s indigenous faith, culture, and traditions.

Speaking on the occasion, minister Natung urged everyone to respect all religions and their followers, particularly those committed to preserving, practising, and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh.

“Our indigenous traditions and culture are our identity. It is our collective responsibility to support and cooperate with all who are working for their promotion and protection,” he said.

Recounting his long association with the Nyedar Namlo movement, Natung recalled how the first Nyedar Namlo at Lapang, Seppa, began functioning in the late 1990s, becoming a hub for celebrating Nyokum Yullo and other traditional events.

He also informed that a memorandum seeking funds for the centre had been submitted to him, assuring that he would examine it for necessary support.

Former Advisor to the chief minister Tai Tagak, who attended the event as the special guest, paid tribute to pioneers of the Donyi Polo movement in the state — including former minister Tadar Tang, Techi Takar, and TC Teli — describing them as visionaries who laid the foundation for the preservation and promotion of Arunachal’s indigenous faith.

“Their contributions will always be remembered with respect,” he said.
