YINGKIONG, July 18: A devastating fire broke out in the early hours of Friday morning at Upper Market in Yingkiong, completely destroying a dwelling house and leaving a family homeless.
The incident occurred around 5:30 AM, officials said.
According to an official statement, the fire was intense and spread rapidly, leaving no time to salvage any belongings.
Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries or casualties.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and an investigation is underway.
Swift action by personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and local residents helped bring the blaze under control before it could spread to neighbouring homes.
Their coordinated response is being credited with preventing further destruction in the densely populated area.
The District Administration also responded promptly by providing emergency relief materials to the affected family.
Arrangements were made to relocate them to a designated temporary relief camp, ensuring they had immediate shelter and basic necessities.
Authorities have assured that further support will be extended to the affected family as per government provisions.
