ITANAGAR/YUPIA, Aug 21: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Thursday inaugurated six major infrastructure projects of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) in Arunachal Pradesh in the presence of Anand Mohan, DGP of Arunachal Pradesh, and senior officials of the ITBP.
According to an official statement, the projects have been executed by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) at an estimated cost of ₹56 crore and are expected to greatly enhance the living and working conditions of ITBP personnel deployed in the frontier areas of the state.
The statement said the projects inaugurated include the Gazetted Officers and Subordinate Officers Mess at the Animal Training School (ATS), Lohitpur, and a stable for horses at the same facility in Lohit district.
Other facilities inaugurated were the ASI accommodation at the 31st Battalion in Yupia, an Administrative Block and GOs’ Mess at the North East Frontier Headquarters in Itanagar, a 10-bedded hospital at the 20th Battalion in Aalo in West Siang district, and a Subordinate Officers Mess at the 49th Battalion in Basar in Leparada district.
These facilities, the ministry noted, are part of the ITBP’s ongoing efforts to strengthen infrastructure in frontier areas by providing modern residential complexes, improved medical facilities, stables, and training infrastructure for personnel.
The newly inaugurated projects are expected to play a crucial role in improving the operational efficiency, welfare, and morale of ITBP troops deployed in strategically vital locations of Arunachal Pradesh.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister of State for Home praised the ITBP for its unwavering dedication, discipline, and commitment to safeguarding the nation’s borders in the difficult terrain of the state.
He also reiterated the Government of India’s commitment to further strengthening the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) through the development of modern infrastructure and the implementation of enhanced welfare measures for the troops.
Expressing gratitude to the Government of India, ITBP Inspector General Ashish Kumar said that the force remains committed to serving the nation and protecting its frontiers with integrity, courage, and professional excellence.
The event was attended by senior ITBP officers, dignitaries of the state government, district administration, officials of the CPWD, and representatives of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
