According to an official statement, Waii was addressing the grand premiere show of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Papum Pare Season-I held at a city hotel, which witnessed a large gathering.

He warned that indulgence in bad habits could darken the future of the state’s youth and urged them to utilise their time in positive activities.

Expressing concern over the spread of drugs, Waii said it was disheartening to learn that even policemen in uniform were involved in drug peddling.

He urged the Home Department to take stern action against those engaged in such activities.

“Drug use is ruining families one by one. It is high time all of us, irrespective of tribe or party, join hands in the fight against drugs and save the precious lives of our youths,” he said.

The former minister lauded the organisers of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Papum Pare for promoting the theme “Say No to Drugs” and called upon like-minded individuals and social organisations to work collectively for the welfare and development of the state.

Guest of honour and APCC General Secretary Kipa Kaha also motivated the youths with a speech against drug abuse, encouraging them to lead peaceful and healthy lives.

Nyishi Students of RGU president Taw Tukung and social activist Neelam Sonju also addressed the gathering as special guests.
