ITANAGAR, Oct 4: The Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), Arunachal Pradesh Regional Centre (APRC), Itanagar, in collaboration with Government Higher Secondary School, Ganga, observed the Wildlife Week Celebration 2025 on Saturday with the theme “Human–Wildlife Coexistence.”
The event was held in line with directives from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India.
The celebration saw the participation of around 120 students from Classes X to XII, who engaged in a series of educational and creative activities designed to promote awareness on the importance of harmonious living between humans and wildlife.
Under the sub-theme “Nature 4R” (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Restore), the students prepared and displayed 13 innovative models crafted from best-out-of-waste materials.
These exhibits presented practical ideas and sustainable solutions for wildlife conservation and environmental protection.
Two lectures were delivered during the event. Dr SD Gurumayum, Officer-in-Charge of ZSI–APRC, spoke on social responsibilities and community-based approaches to minimizing conflict and promoting coexistence between humans and wildlife.
Dr Vikram Delu, the event coordinator, addressed the gathering on biodiversity from scientific and conservation perspectives, emphasising the role of youth in ensuring coexistence and sustainability.
The students demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment throughout the programme.
Certificates were presented to all participants, and prizes were awarded for the most outstanding models.
The first prize went to a model focusing on human–wildlife coexistence, while other winning entries highlighted ideas such as rainwater harvesting, eco-friendly activities, and sustainable community practices.
Expressing gratitude to all those involved, ZSI–APRC extended special thanks to the Principal, TGT (Mathematics), and the staff of Government Higher Secondary School, Ganga, for their cooperation and support in making the event a success.
In a message, the ZSI–APRC reiterated that human–wildlife coexistence is not merely a necessity but a shared responsibility.
“By adopting eco-friendly practices, reducing habitat destruction, and fostering community awareness, we can create a future where both humans and wildlife thrive together in harmony,” the message read.
The event concluded with a renewed pledge to strengthen awareness and inspire the younger generation to actively contribute toward wildlife conservation and sustainable living.
