120 Congress, AGP Members Join BJP In Jorhat

JORHAT, April 7: 120 persons including Congress and AGP party members and district level leaders across Jorhat district joined the BJP in a ceremony held to observe the 42nd foundation day of the ruling party at the Muktijujaru Bhawan here on Wednesday.

Jorhat district BJP unit president Hemanta Kalita, who presided over the function, welcomed the new members stating that the work done by the BJP-led governments for the benefit of all sections of the society by the Central and the state governments has been attracting more people towards the party.

He hoped the new members which include 72 from the Congress and 18 from AGP will contribute to the party’s growth and serve the people.

Kalita, also a former Titabar MLA, said that as part of nation-wide social justice fortnight programme announced by the party from April 7, in Jorhat district too a series of activities will be undertaken by the party.

In the same function, five senior BJP members of the district who have been dedicatedly working for the party since past several decades were felicitated. They were Rabi Sarmah, Someshwar Gogoi (both from Titabar), Manoj Choudhury (Mariani), Manorama Saikia and Jadumoni Dutta (both from Jorhat).

BJP Jorhat district unit general secretaries Ishwar Prasanna Bordoloi and Amar Jyoti Saikia, Media Cell convener Bonny Saikia were among those who were present on the occasion.
