MORIGAON, March 21: The 13th Triennial Central Conference of Tiwa Mathanlai Takhra (Tiwa Sahitya Sabha) got underway under a tumultous situation with a three-day event from Friday at the late Jemon Chandra Bardoloi Khetra , Oujari of the district.
The main gate of the session was inaugurated by the King of the heritage Gova kingdom of the Tiwa people, Dipshing Deoraja. The program was inaugurated by Bidyut Bikash Senapati, general secretary, Tiwa Mathonlai Takhra.
The ‘Barghar’ was inaugurated by Morigaon MLA Ramakant Deuri. Afterwards, Minister Piyush Hazarika inaugurated a beautiful exhibition at the venue. There was also a fair of Tiwa costumes and ornaments set up at the venue.
In the afternoon, the memorial book ‘Charang’, the newspaper Thurang published in Tiwa language, a dictionary of Tiwa language and about forty valuable books reflecting the language and culture of the community were officially launched. In the afternoon, a meeting of delegates and an attractive beauty competition was held. There is a colorful cultural programme held in the evening.
