MARGHERITA, Jan 18: The 21st Adivasi Mahasabha, organised by the Central Executive Committee of the All Adivasi Students Association of Assam (AASAA) under the aegis of the AASAA Tinsukia district committee, in association with Adivasi Jani Shakti Sangati and with the cooperation of the residents of Tinsukia district, will be held from January 29 to 31 and February 1 at the Dehing Sports Complex Samannay Khetra, Bargolai, under the 83rd Margherita Legislative Assembly Constituency in Tinsukia district.
Adivasi people residing in Assam and other Northeastern states, along with participants from neighbouring states such as West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, are expected to attend the four-day event.
During the 21st Adivasi Mahasabha, the rich art, culture, food cuisine, traditional attire, language and script of the Adivasi community will be exhibited. Popular Adivasi music groups will also perform various traditional songs and dances, adding to the cultural significance of the event.
On February 1, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren is scheduled to attend the Mahasabha as the chief guest. An estimated gathering of around five lakh people is expected on that day.
