25 People Apprehended So Far: Police

GUWAHATI, March 15 (PTI): Twenty-five people, including 12 students, have been arrested so far in the case of alleged paper leak of class 10 state board exam, an Assam Police spokesperson said on Wednesday.

While three arrests were made on Tuesday, the rest were apprehended on Wednesday, he said.

Spokesperson Prasanta Bhuyan said, “The total number of arrests is at 25 now. This include 12 children in conflict with law.”

“Among the other 13, four are service holders. The arrests were made from Tinsukia, Dhemaji, Sadiya, Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur and Guwahati,” the Inspector General of Assam Police (Law and Order) added.

Bhuyan said those apprehended were produced before a local court here, which forwarded the adults to three days police custody and the juveniles to state home.

Earlier on Wednesday, a CID officer had said that the persons detained at different parts of the state in the case were being brought to Guwahati for questioning at its headquarters here.

The Assam Police had registered a criminal case and the CID was handed over the investigation on Monday.
