Tuliram Ronghang Launches Campaign On New Education System

DIPHU, Aug 1: Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Tuliram Ronghang launched the awareness campaign for quality education of the education department, KAAC, at the conference hall of new KAAC Secretariat here on Monday.
The education campaign is an initiative by the Education Department, KAAC.
Launching the campaign, the CEM said if irregularities of teachers are found in schools then the Executive Members of KAAC and local Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) and education department have to look into the matter. “Also if there is lack of infrastructure the local MAC should inform the authority,” he said.
The CEM also said those schools which want to convert from Assamese to English medium they can submit their proposal to the concerned authority.
Ronghang announced that KAAC will sponsor those students belonging to BPL families who want to take up the Science stream in higher studies. He directed the teachers to enquire about the reasons for the absence of students for five consecutive days from the parents.
Executive Member (EM), KAAC, Education, Richard Tokbi expressed concern over rise in dropout rate. “In Karbi Anglong the dropout rate is 32.57 percent, while in West Karbi Anglong it is 39.05 percent,” he said, adding 30 schools were running without any teacher.
The EM appreciated the CEM for his support in transforming education in the district and at the same time urged all the stakeholders, and various student and youth organisations to work together as a team in achieving quality education.
The launching programme was attended by KAAC chairman Raju Tisso; MLA Bidya Sing Engleng; EMs, MACs; KAAC principal secretary Mukul Saikia and leaders of various student and civil bodies.
