Guwahati, Jan 02: As many as 465 officers and personnel from the Assam Police and allied forces have been awarded the Director General of Police (DGP) Commendation Medal for 2025, according to an official notification issued on Thursday.
The honours, conferred in Gold and Silver categories, recognise meritorious service across ranks and organisations, ranging from senior IPS officers to field-level personnel. Awardees include members of the Assam Police, Fire & Emergency Services, Civil Defence, Home Guards, Assam Rifles, the Indian Army and the CRPF.
In the Gold Medal category, several serving and retired IPS and APS officers have been recognised along with inspectors, sub-inspectors and constabulary ranks. The list reflects representation from leadership as well as frontline policing, highlighting sustained service and operational contribution rather than rank alone.
The Silver Medal category accounts for the majority of awardees and includes personnel from CID, Special Branch, STF, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Police Commissionerate Guwahati, district executive forces, Assam Police Battalions and CDO battalions, Fire & Emergency Services, GRP, Border Organisation, Home Guards and Civil Defence. As notified, awardees from serial numbers 27 to 453 fall under this category.
Senior IPS and APS officers are among those receiving Silver Medals, alongside a large number of inspectors, sub-inspectors, assistant sub-inspectors, havildars, lance naiks, constables, ministerial staff and emergency service personnel.
The honours also extend to officers from sister organisations. Personnel from the Indian Army, Assam Rifles and the CRPF have been awarded Silver Medals in recognition of their contribution to internal security and coordination with the state police.
The DGP Commendation Medals are awarded annually to acknowledge exemplary service, professional excellence and dedication to duty across Assam’s policing and security framework.
