KFS and SRFTI to ink pact for promotion of Karbi films

DIPHU, Sept 8: Karbi Film Society (KFS) is organising their 4th general conference on September 10 and 11 at Karbi People’s Hall, Taralangso here, informed president, KFS, Dhaniram Tisso.

Detailing the programme in a press conference held here at Taralangso, Tisso said during the two- day conference there will be an election for a new body of KFS for the next three-year term. Apart from this, national award winning Karbi films like ‘Kachichinitu,’ ‘Vosobipo’ and Prag Cine Award winning film ‘Hai-i-mu’ will be screened.

The KFS will also felicitate eminent artists and personalities like Padmashree Dhaneswar Engti; producer and director of ‘Kachichinithu’ Khanjan Kishore Nath; former executive member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) and founder president, KFS, film maker and renowned singer, Bidyasing Rongpi; founder secretary, KFS, Semson Terang; renowned singer Pokhila Lekthepi and retired deputy director of Arts & Culture Department, KAAC, Hemari Tokbi.

Tisso also informed that the good news for KFS is that an MoU will be signed between KFS and Satyajit Ray Film & TV Institute (SRFTI) for development and promotion of Karbi films.

The KFS president, Tisso on September 6 met the dean of SRFTI, Bipin Vijay in Kolkata and discussed the overall development of film with special reference to Karbi films.

The SRFTI (An autonomous Society funded by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India) and The KFS (A welfare organisation for the all round development of film & film fraternity will soon organise a joint workshop jointly at KPH, Taralangso, Diphu, Tisso informed.

The KFS has invited chief executive member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Tuliram Ronghang as the chief guest for the felicitation programme on September 11.
