65th Bodo Sahitya Sabha conference kicks off in Chirang

KOKRAJHAR, Jan 9: The 65th annual conference of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) began on Friday with a three-day programme at Thengpakri Fwthar, Borlaogaon near Bijni in Chirang district.

As part of the inauguration, BTC Executive Member Dhiraj Borgoyary opened the main gate of the conference, while District Commissioner Jatin Borah inaugurated the main pandal in the presence of office bearers of the reception committee and Bodo Sahitya Sabha members.

An exhibition and book fair featuring over 500 stalls has been arranged, alongside multi-community cultural programs aimed at engaging visitors and the general public. Literary delegates from various Indian states, as well as from Nepal, Bangladesh and Japan are participating in the conference.

 Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is expected to attend the open session on the concluding day, January 11.

The Bodo Sahitya Sabha will discuss key issues including Bodo medium education, language development and community welfare. Nilokanta Goyary, General Secretary of BSS, said several thousand delegates and observers from various committees across the state have participated in the conference.
