7-year old boy run over by hume pipe

DIPHU, Feb. 15:  A seven years old boy, Sarbolon Rongpi, studying in Class KG-II of Taralangso LP School, Longnit Havar Kimi, lost his life, when a hume pipe rolled over him at around 8 O’clock this morning. He is the son of Rustom Rongpi and Mirmili Teronpi of Longnit Havar Kimi village. The incident happened under Bakulia police station.

Like every morning, Sarbolon Rongpi was heading to school from home, but the hume pipe which was kept on the roadside rolled down and ran over the body of the little boy. It may be mentioned here that the NHIDCL  (National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited) is undertaking construction work of the four-lane NH-36 which passes through Longnit.

The body of Sarbolon was brought to Diphu Medical College & Hospital for postmortem. The deceased body was later handed to the family members.

The local people have complained that the carelessness of the workers of NH-36 has led to the death of Sarbolon. The workers should have been careful about siding the hume pipes on a sloping place so that it does not roll down.   The deceased family members have sought compensation from NHIDCL for the loss of their son. They also requested EM (Executive Member) of  KAAC (Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council), Amorsing Tisso, who is the local MAC (Member of Autonomous Council ) of Singhason to extend help for performing rituals after the cremation of the body.

Meanwhile, Executive Member (EM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Richard Tokbi has extended a sum of Rs 20,000 to the bereaved family.
