KHERONI, July 25: The Rastriya Divyang Ekta Sangh (RDES) Trust, in collaboration with the West Karbi Anglong district administration, organised an Aadhaar enrolment drive, a free medical camp, and an awareness programme at Adarsha Senior Secondary School, Dikhreng (Kheroni Charali), on Friday.
The outreach programme was aimed at extending welfare services to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), widows, senior citizens, and members of the third gender community, and was seen as a significant step towards fostering inclusion and empowerment in the district.

Deputy Commissioner Saranga Pani Sarma attended the event as the chief guest and was formally appointed Chief Adviser to the RDES.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Sarma assured the participants of the administration’s continued support and later visited a proposed site at Dayangmukh for the construction of an official office building of the Trust.
He also briefed participants on government welfare schemes for persons with disabilities and other marginalised groups.
RDES Chairman Dipak Chauhan elaborated on the objectives of the programme and reaffirmed the Trust’s commitment to serving underserved communities.
Key members of the Trust present at the event included Operating Trustee Mongal Sing Phangcho; Trustees Mohar Ali, Kenson Roghphar, Dipankar Chauhan, Hemson Kathar, and Sunil Chauhan; and the West Karbi Anglong district RDES unit represented by President Mohan Sing Kathar and Secretary Manoj Kumar Gour.
Among others who attended were Dr Rajesh Kumar Chauhan, Lecturer at Thong Nokbe College, Dokmoka; Chhotelal Chauhan, Assistant Professor at Kapili College, Kheroni; and Ramji Chauhan, Vice Principal of the host school.
More than a hundred specially-abled individuals and community workers participated in the day-long programme, which provided Aadhaar registration and updation services, free medical consultations, and awareness sessions on rights, entitlements, and government welfare schemes for differently-abled citizens.
Organisers said the initiative underlined the importance of documentation, access to healthcare, and awareness in ensuring inclusive development, particularly in remote and hilly areas such as West Karbi Anglong.
