While criticizing today’s incident, Sankar Jyoti Baruah, General Secretary of AASU said that the sudden declaration of the cancellation of the General Science paper at the last moment is concerning. Several students were even unaware of the newly made announcement and they reached the exam centers to appear for it which implies “harassment for the students”. He further stated that SEBA authorities have failed to conduct the examination in a fair manner. This is the third incident this year when they are canceling an examination. “Lakhs of students toil the entire year to sit for the exams, such incidents is a mental harassment for the student community.”, he added.

Baruah further demanded an investigation of SEBA and the officials concerned. He also said that SEBA chairman Ramesh Chandra Jain and Education minister Ranoj Pegu should resign from their post and take responsibility for the anomalies that have been prevailing in the board and the education department.

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Bhupen Kumar Borah while expressing his views said that the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma has “failed to maintain the sanctity of the education department”. Meanwhile, the AASU unit of Biswanth Chariali in Sonitpur district burned effigies of the state education minister Ranoj Pegu. Numerous protesters from AASU marched a protest from Shahid Bhawan in Biswanath Nagar to Police Point. They also raised slogans against State Chief Minister, Education Minister, and SEBA.
