AAU and ICAR-NRRI collaborate for joint research & technological advancements

JORHAT, July 13: The Assam Agricultural University-Assam Rice Research Institute (AAU-ARRI) in Titabar recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ICAR-National Rice Research Institute (ICAR-NRRI) in Cuttack, Odisha. The MoU aims to establish joint scientific collaborative research, share scientific technologies, publish academic works, and enhance cooperation between the two institutes.

The signing ceremony took place at ICAR-NRRI, Cuttack, with the director of ICAR-NRRI, Dr AK Nayak, and the director (in-charge) of Research (Agriculture) at AAU, Dr Mrinal Saikia, signing the agreement. The event was attended by AAU vice chancellor Dr Bidyut Chandan Deka and chief scientist of AAU-ARRI in Titabar, Dr Sanjay Kumar Chetia.

An AAU official highlighted that this collaboration between AAU-ARRI and ICAR-NRRI is unique and will facilitate the development and promotion of new technologies, varieties, and high-impact scientific publications resulting from joint research endeavours. The partnership will also foster the exchange of rice germplasm between the two institutes.

Furthermore, the agreement includes provisions for student and faculty exchanges, participation in courses, conferences, seminars, and joint academic programs. Both institutions are dedicated to fostering meaningful collaborations and promoting the advancement of agricultural research and development.

During the signing ceremony, AAU vice chancellor Dr Bidyut Chandan Deka delivered a speech on ‘Transformation of NARES System into Agribusiness platform: AAU Model to Emulate.’
