ACLA organises workshop on AI in education and ONOS on Librarians’ Day

TEZPUR, August 10: The Assam College Librarians’ Association (ACLA) Nagaon Zone and Sonitpur Zone jointly organised a one-day workshop on “The Application of Generative AI in Education & Research” and “One Nation One Subscription (ONOS)” on the occasion of National Librarians’ Day to commemorate Dr S R Ranganathan, Father of Library Science in India, on Saturday.

The workshop, held at the I. P. Choudhury Conference Hall of Tezpur College, was organised in collaboration with the Chandra Mohan Medhi Library and IQAC, Tezpur College.

Librarians from Nagaon Zone (Hojai, Morigaon, Nagaon and West Karbi Anglong districts) and Tezpur Zone (Biswanath, Darrang, Sonitpur and Udalguri districts), along with the teaching staff of Tezpur College, attended the event. It was jointly coordinated by Rajashree Bordoloi, Zonal Coordinator of ACLA Nagaon Zone, and Ramyajyoti Arandhara, Zonal Coordinator of Sonitpur Zone.

The event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Badal Chandra Dev, followed by the rendition of the theme songs of Tezpur College and ACLA.

Tezpur College Principal Dr Manoj Kumar Hazarika delivered the welcome address.

Former Darrang College Librarian delivered an address highlighting the life and works of Dr S R Ranganathan and the significance of Librarians’ Day.

Dr Birender Pal, Librarian of Kaliabor College and General Secretary of ACLA, and Dr Bidyut Bikash Boruah, Librarian of Swahid Peoli Phukan College, Namti, participated as resource persons. Dr Pal demonstrated the application of AI in education and research, while Dr Boruah delivered a lecture on One Nation One Subscription.

Saurabh Jyoti Laskar, Librarian of Jagiroad College, shared his experiences from the workshop.

Librarian of Kharupetia College Jeebendra Mohan Dev Sarma, Tezpur College Assistant Professor of English Dr Dharmendra Baruah, and Tezpur College Librarian Dr Mitali Goswami presented songs and self-composed poems.

Retired Librarian Anju Saikia and Badal Chandra Dev were felicitated during the programme, which was moderated by Dr Goswami.

Ramyajyoti Arandhara, Librarian of Rangapara College (Autonomous) and Zonal Coordinator of ACLA Sonitpur Zone, delivered the concluding speech, while the vote of thanks was offered by Rajashree Bordoloi, Librarian of Raha College and Zonal Coordinator of ACLA Nagaon Zone.
